Biographies

Pawel Zuzanski was born in 1977 in Kielce (Poland). He received his first violin lessons from his father when he was seven years old. At the age of twelve, he debuted with The Kielce Philharmonic Orchestra performing the concerto in a minor by J. S. Bach. In 1996, he finished studies at The Ludomir Rozycki State School of Music in Kielce then furthered his musical studies with prof. Zenon Ploszaj at The Academy of Music in Lodz (Poland). During this time he played with a string quartet and a piano trio, with both winning 2nd prize at The Kiejstut Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Lodz, 1998. He has appeared as soloist with Orchestra of High School of Music in Lodz performing Double concerto in d minor for violin and oboe by J. S. Bach. From 1999 till 2001 he played the role of the violinist in 'Fiddler on the roof' (directed by Jan Szurmiej) at The Music Theatre Lodz. As a leader of The Polish Camerata Chamber Orchestra (under Stanislaw Firlej) and The Chopin Soloists Chamber Orchestra (under Marek Drewnowski) he performed extensively throughout Europe.

After graduating from Lodz, in 2001 he continued his studies with prof. Adam Kostecki at The High School of Music and Drama Hannover (Germany). While studying in Hannover he was leader of The High School Orchestra under Eiji Oue and principle 2nd violin of The Chamber Orchestra Hanover under Adam Kostecki with which he toured throughout Europe and South America. In 2003 Zuzanski performed 'The Lark Ascending' by R. Vaughan Williams with The Camerata Scholarum in Poland and Switzerland.
He has taken part in many masterclasses, including with prof. Lewis Kaplan (Juilliard School of Music) and in 'Thy Masterclass' in Denmark.

Mateusz Kwiatkowski was born 1982 in Warsaw (Poland). He took his first cello lessons at the age of seven. He graduated from The Karol Szymanowski State School of Music in Warsaw, where he studied with prof. Kazimierz Michalik. During his studies in Warsaw he played in a string quartet, with which he won the 1st prize at The National Chamber Music Competition in Warsaw in 1997. He is currently studying with prof. Piotr Hausenplas at The Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw and with prof. Mirel Iancovici at Conservatory of Music in Maastricht (Holland). Kwiatkowski has participated in masterclass working with tutors as Thobias Arizcuren, Burkhardt Veidt, Thobias Kuhne, Christoph Marks and Tomasz Strahl.

Kwiatkowskis' interests lie not only in performing classical music. He performs a lot of avantgarde music and has performed with the ensemble 'Mala Rzecz, a Cieszy'. He also enjoys jazz and other kinds of improvised music playing on his 5-string cello. In 2000, he founded the jazz quintet 'Future Background Association' performing compositions inspired by music of Igor Stravinsky and Steve Coleman combined with polish folk music. With that ensemble he participated at The International Four Cultures Festival 2002 in Lodz (Poland). He has also taken part in The Improvised Music Festival Maastricht 2004 and at The Korean Music Festival Maastricht 2005, where performed 'Seven Studies for Cello Solo' and 'Piano Trio' by Isang Yun.

At the moment Kwiatkowski is concentrated on playing chamber music working with the trio and improving his knowledge of performing early music.

Artur Pacewicz was born in 1977 in Gubin (Poland). He began to have piano lessons at the age of eight at The Kazimierz Serocki State School of Music in his family town, later he continued his musical studies with Barbara Miodynska at The Mieczyslaw Karlowicz State School of Music in Poznan (Poland). After graduating, he entered The Academy of Music in Gdansk (Poland), studying with prof. Waldemar Wojtal (1996-2001). In this time he received a scholarship from The Chopin Society in Warsaw (Poland), 1997. In 2000, he received a scholarship to start his piano studies with prof. Gerrit Zitterbart at The High School of Music and Drama Hanover (Germany). During this period he concentrated more on chamber music.

Pacewicz has been honoured at many prestigious piano competitions such as receiving the 1st prize at The Regional Piano Competition in Zielona Gora (Poland), 1990 and The Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition in Varna (Bulgaria), 1999. He also received an honourable mention at The Milos Magin International Piano Competition in Paris (France), 1995.

Pacewicz performed as chamber musician and soloist throughout Europe, including concerts with Baltic Symphony Orchestra under Janusz Przybylski. He has taken part in many masterclasses, working with such tutors as Tatiana Shebanova, Bernd Goetzke, Ryszard Bakst, Daniel Blumenthal and Zbigniew Sliwinski.
